Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the principal greenhouse gas responsible for climate change. When fossil fuels are used to provide power and heat, significant volumes of CO2 are released into the atmosphere. Attempts to lower CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions have been made in response to the growing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.
