The Energy ConsortiumāIIT Madras Partnership with Energy Systems Catapult (ESC) UK
The Energy ConsortiumāIIT Madras has entered a strategic partnership with Energy Systems Catapult (ESC), a UK government-backed innovation centre accelerating the transition to a net-zero energy future. The MoU was announced with EC representatives (Dean Manu Santhanam, Dean Raghunathan Rengasamy, Prof. Satyanarayanan Seshadri, CEO Nikhil Tambe) and ESC (Brendan OāNeill, Lowri Williams), alongside the British High Commission (Babita Sharma, Tabinda Bashir).
The partnership enables joint R&D in renewable energy, smart grids, green hydrogen, electric mobility and green ports, plus bilateral workshops and studies on energy policy and regulation.
The Joint MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems is also offered with the University of Birmingham (UK) ā see Education āŗ Degree Programs. Faculty (Prof. Raghuram Chetty, Prof. Abdus Samad) additionally engage with the University of Hull, Newcastle University and the University of Strathclyde on turbomachinery, tidal energy and VRFB research.
